In this first session we will consider how we are transformed–surprisingly, not by looking in at our state of transformation but looking outside of us to Christ. This text is one of the richest and deepest passages in all the Bible on how Christians actually change.
Here we consider the wonder of togetherness in the Christian life, through Paul’s example of his own life. Transformation cannot happen in isolation. What a deep grace that we are called to be gentle agents used by the Spirit to foster change in one another.
We do indeed look in as we are transformed, but what we find there is not something to celebrate, but weakness. And that very weakness is the Lord’s key ingredient to bring us to experience the soul-transformation that we all long for in our Christian lives.
Our final session will draw from Owen’s greatest treatise to reflect on the Trinitarian structure of transformation. The Father above us in love, the Son next to us in grace, the Spirit within us in comfort – all is taken care of.

We all experience frustration with change. Old habits we can’t seem to shed. New ambitions that remain frustratingly out of reach. Why is change so hard? In this seminar, we will consider the process of change as the Bible describes it and discover that it is both radically ambitious and wonderfully practical. We can change – and in the Scriptures God tells us how.
We might prefer it were otherwise, but suffering and struggle are key components in our growth. The Bible identifies a maturity that comes through hardship (see Romans 5:1-5 and James 1:2-4). We shouldn’t be surprised – even Jesus, “Son though he was…learned obedience from what he suffered”. (Hebrews 5:8) This seminar will consider how to engage well with our own sufferings and to help others do likewise.
We often hear that it is through the Word of God that we are transformed. But how, exactly, does scripture do this? Does it set out a standard to aspire to? Does it warn us of things to avoid? Or does it operate as a motivational tool? With plenty of practical reflections, this seminar will show how it is that God changes us by his Word.
Church has been called ‘God’s great change-enabling community’. Change and growth were never designed to be a solitary pursuit. As brothers and sisters in Christ we are intended to help one another grow into the likeness of Christ. This seminar will explore how our churches can be places where rich relationships of mutual love and care can provide the wise ‘one-anothering’ that will help us to grow like Christ.
We will begin our series of seminars by considering how Christ’s ministry is an embrace of weakness, culminating in the weakness of the cross and the dependence of the resurrection. In doing so we will see how both the strength and weakness of our Lord reveal his love and kindness, building our faith and comforting us in our trials.
This seminar will seek to apply what we have seen of Christ to how we understand our weakness. We are weak in so many ways and our Lord knows and understands this. As we grow in understanding even God’s strength as being a dependent strength, we will learn to rely on him more fully and see our weakness transformed into a means of receiving his grace.
The weakness of obvious suffering will have been addressed in the first two seminars. This third seminar is a chance to unpick the disappointment that so many of us feel with our circumstances, the course life has taken and even ourselves and the Lord. To see disappointment in the context of Christ’s love, his coming return and his understanding of our sorrows can change our experience of it.
This final sessions will seek to help us reimagine our church, which we often see as disappointingly weak. We will think together about how we can live as a community where we acknowledge our weakness and come together to Christ. Hopefully by the end we will happily affirm that, “I am weak; dependant on the Lord, together, we are strong.”
Work. We all do it, paid, unpaid, home, away – from chores as a kid to jobs as an adult. Christianity’s liberating vision for everyday work is revealed in creation, reaffirmed after the Fall, and enriched and expanded by Christ’s death and resurrection. Come explore why your work matters in God’s eternal purposes and what it might look like to do your work, whatever it is, in the power of the resurrection.
Christ’s physical resurrection doesn’t just open up new wells of power to do our work in Christ’s ways, it reveals the high value of our work in this life and vitally offers a glimpse of the richness of work in a renewed earth. What will work look like after Jesus returns? And how does that help us today – whether we’re fixing breakfast, fixing a leak or fixing a rate? Come explore.
Smartphones, Snapchat, TikTok, gaming, AI, porn… In this first seminar we’ll unpack some of the big challenges, including time on screens. Come and gain biblical wisdom, practical help and confidence in navigating the digital age in the context of family life. You’ll come away with practical ideas for managing tech in the home, including forging good habits ourselves. Learn how to shape our digital lives so they don’t shape us.
Smartphones, Snapchat, TikTok, gaming, AI, porn… In this second seminar we’ll unpack some big dangers, including the impact of social media on our children’s wellbeing. Come and gain biblical wisdom, practical help and confidence in navigating the digital age in the context of family life. You’ll come away with practical ideas for not only keeping our children safe, but helping them grow in wisdom, making the most of all technology has to offer.
Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) are the first generation to have grown up only knowing quick, accessible internet. They’re also the most diverse generation in UK history. Both factors significantly affect how we evangelise, disciple and launch Generation Z into leadership. Whether you’re a Gen Zer yourself or simply passionate about them, come and explore how best to engage this unique generation.
Generation Z were in adolescence when lockdowns swept the planet. This has shaped Gen Zers’ view of health and wellness, which is notably different to other generations. Perhaps this is why Generation Z are much more spiritually open than others. We may be entering a period of wonderful opportunity – and yet there are challenges as a therapeutically-minded generation meet Jesus. Come ready to explore them both!
Europe is Spiritually hard, and churches are mostly small and often struggling. But there are incredible green shoots and stories of hope. And students are leading the way in reaching their peers and cultures for Christ.
For Pastors only
Paul super-condenses the gospel into four words, “Jesus has welcomed you”, and calls us to express that welcome to one another (Romans 15:7). We’ll think together about how our gospel doctrine is meant to creat a unique gospel culture.
The death of Jesus means it’s safe to be truly known – by God and by one another. One of the most fundamental marks of a healthy church is that we’re able to walk together in honesty, not pretence. We’ll think together about the why and how of cultivating a church culture where it is safe to confess sin and walk in the light.
The beautiful counterpart to being honest about our own flaws is being eager to point our evidences of Christ’s work in others, celebrating one another. We’ll look at how the Bible calls us to “outdo one another in showing honour” (Romans 12:10) – a culture where people experience dignity and encouragement.
Beauty turns heads, and the presence of a healthy gospel culture in our churches will compel the attention of a watching world. We’ll think about how it is our love for one another that helps our gospel proclamation to gain traction.
“The gospel s bearing fruit throughtout the whole world.” Paul’s inspiring words to the Colossians are echoed in the Keswick story, with its remarkable ripple effect across the globe. Through courageous missionaries, bold prayer movements, and committed churches around the world, the gospel has been transforming lives. How did this happen, and how might this spirutal impact continue in the years ahead?
We aim to keep afternoons clear during Convention so you can reflect and enjoy all the lake district has to offer. There is a concert each Wednesday evening and a few receptions for particular groups on site in the afternoon for those looking for something more.

Enhancing your Workplace Witness. Ministry in everyday work is much more than verbal witness but for many it’s the area they feel least confident in. The key is to build trusting relationships. And critical that is the ability to make the most of everyday conversations that are ‘full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone’ (Colossians 4:6). Come explore some simple ways to do that and share challenges and ideas with others in your sector.

The theme for the Convention this year is Transformed to help us consider the ways that we have been, will be and are being Transformed by Christ and his Spirit. In 19-24s, we’ll particularly focus on the ways that we are being made more like Christ, through the transforming work of the Spirit.
In these sessions we’ll be focussing on the Fruit of the Spirit (as listed in Galatians 5), and thinking through what it looks like to cultivate and display that fruit in our lives.
Monday – Introduction to the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5)
We’ll begin the week with an introduction to the idea of the fruit of the Spirit, and in particular, the fact that it is fruit and not ‘fruits’! Spiritual fruit and spiritual gifts are not the same – we shouldn’t expect that one of us will have love, and another gentleness, and so on, but rather, that each of us has been given all of the fruit, as each of us has received the Spirit.
Tuesday – Love, Joy and Peace
Working through what Paul meant by the words ‘love’, ‘joy’ and ‘peace’, and considering how they ought to be seen and lived out in our work/studies, friendships and family, romantic relationships, church life, and evangelism.
Wednesday – Keswick Lecture (Main Tent)
We will join the Keswick Lecture in the Main Tent.
Thursday – Patience, Kindness, Goodness
Working through what Paul meant by the words ‘patience’, ‘kindness’ and ‘goodness’, and considering how they ought to be seen and lived out in our work/studies, friendships and family, romantic relationships, church life, and evangelism.
Friday – Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control
Working through what Paul meant by the words ‘faithfulness’, ‘gentleness’ and ‘self-control’, and considering how they ought to be seen and lived out in our work/studies, friendships and family, romantic relationships, church life, and evangelism.
