Volunteer: Technical Team

The Technical Team are a vital part of Convention delivery each year. Ensuring our Bible Readings, Seminars, and other events are seen and heard by the largest, global audience as possible. We are passionate about making our resources freely available digitally and professionally.

Working alongside, and under supervision of our external contractors, you will enjoy bringing your sound desk and visuals experience to this role. You may be asked to operate cameras, produce on-screen graphics, operate sound desks or simply keep the green room clean and well-stocked.

Specific Tasks Include

  • Under supervision, work as part of the Technical Team to install audio/visual (A/V) equipment for seminar and other small venues throughout the week
  • Operate audio/visual equipment for meetings, seminars, K & Y venues, and overflow areas
  • Source the technical requirements in seminar/workshop venues as requested.
  • Liaise with seminar and workshop hosts and speakers regarding A/V requests.
  • Support other teams as needs arise
  • Assist with whatever is needed behind the scenes

You Will:

  • Have lots of enthusiasm for teamwork
  • Some knowledge of sound/video/engineering is useful or a good ability to learn. All tech team applicants will be e-interviewed prior to confirmation on team
  • Lots of energy and flexibility! 
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Have a good level of spoken English
  • General technical knowledge to assist other technicians in problem solving would be a bonus
  • Energy and fitness to load and unload a van and move from venue to venue as and when required

Location and Schedule

  • This is a varying role and will cover the whole Convention site
  • Days are long, starting at 8.30am and going through until 10:00pm – 10:30pm. However, we do endeavour to ensure that everyone gets some time off each day, on a rota basis.
  • You will be expected to arrive in time for a briefing meeting on Saturday afternoon, and then be on duty each day until departure the following Saturday morning.

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers are required to:

  • Be aged 18 years or older
  • Be a committed Christian who is regularly attending and active in a local church
  • Be able to complete an online application and provide details of 2 referees – one who must be a leader within your church. Neither can be related to you.
  • Be able to obtain a clear enhanced DBS check for Keswick Ministries
  • Confirm agreement to and abide with the Keswick Ministries beliefs, values & code of conduct
  • Complete necessary training prior to arrival on site
  • You will be expected to arrive in time for a briefing and training meeting on Saturday afternoon, and then be on duty each day until departure the following Saturday morning

Full-time volunteers will receive:  

  • Free allocated accommodation
  • Three meals a day
  • Reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses
