1 Peter
This 24-hour workshop, held in Keswick, is aimed to help you grow in your understanding and joy in God’s Word and we pray, in your love for Jesus. But fundamentally too, the workshop is to equip you to teach a book or portion of the Bible in your own context.
At this workshop we are looking forward to grappling with the book of 1 Peter with Angus MacLeay, Rector at St Nicholas, Sevenoaks.
1 Peter was written into a context where Christians were experiencing ostracism, marginalisation and a degree of persecution. Peter’s strategy to help the church included a strong doctrinal framework to provide hope and confidence for believers under pressure as well as a clear pattern for engagement with the surrounding culture. Ultimately Peter’s teaching is shaped by the cross and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our aim will be to get a clear overview of the structure of this epistle, before working out how best to teach and apply this book as we recognise its striking resonance in our current cultural moment.
The workshop will be run over 24 hours, lunchtime to lunchtime, with session in the afternoon and following morning. There is no preparatory reading or assessment. This will be an intensive workshop, particularly intended for pastors, ministers, church planters or lay leaders but is open to anyone.
"I was so encouraged to spend time in Keswick with other believers engaging with God's Word and being equipped to serve my local church better."
