Volunteer: Campus Team

The Campus Team are the first volunteers that Conventioners encounter as they step onto the campus. You will have an engaging and welcoming personality, enjoy guiding and directing visitors to the correct location whilst staying alert to health and safety requirements across the site. This is one of the most hands-on, practical and outdoor roles on site – an appetite for fresh air is a must for this role.

You will enjoy being outdoors and welcome and engage with Conventioners, facilitating the smooth running of the campus, working in conjunction with other teams, creating a friendly, safe and clean environment.

Reports to: Campus  Team Leader

Team Size: 8-10

Specific Tasks Include

  • Welcoming and guiding Conventioners around the site
  • At peak times, managing road crossing, parking & positively directing people
  • Clearing outside litter & emptying outside bins
  • Move chairs and equipment to reset seating layouts as required
  • Taking responsible action during emergency evacuations, directing people towards safe muster points
  • Assist deliveries onto the campus
  • Clean up outdoor spillages
  • Join daily devotions and team briefings
  • Support other teams as needs arise  

You Will:

  • Be cheerful and welcoming
  • Have lots of enthusiasm for teamwork and can follow direction under a team leader
  • Have the physical ability for long periods of being on your feet, lifting and moving chairs and/or equipment 
  • Enjoy talking to people and assisting people with a variety of needs  
  • Have lots of energy, patience, a sense of humour and flexibility! 
  • Have a desire to serve and help
  • Use initiative as well as take direction
  • Have a high level of spoken English
  • Be ready to support other teams if/when a need comes up

Location and Schedule

  • This is a varying role and will cover the whole Convention site.
  • Days are long, starting at 8:15am and can go through until 10:30pm. However, we do endeavour to ensure that everyone gets some time off each day, on a rota basis.
  • You will be expected to arrive in time for a briefing meeting on Saturday afternoon, and then be on duty each day until departure the following Saturday morning.
  • You will be outdoors regularly so appropriate clothing/footwear is essential.

Requirements

Volunteers are required to: 

  • Be aged 18 years or older 
  • Be a committed Christian who is regularly attending and active in a local church 
  • Be able to complete an online application and provide details of 2 referees – one who must be a leader within your church. Neither can be related to you.  
  • Be able to obtain a clear enhanced DBS check for Keswick Ministries if required
  • Confirm their agreement to and abide with the Keswick Ministries beliefs, values & code of conduct
  • You will be expected to arrive in time for a briefing and training meeting on Saturday afternoon, and then be on duty each day until departure the following Saturday morning

Full-time volunteers will receive:

  • Free allocated accommodation
  • Three meals a day
  • Reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses
