Volunteer applications have opened for next year’s Keswick Convention which will be held on the former Pencil Factory site.
Around 650 volunteers are needed to make the three-week Convention possible each year.
Keswick Ministries says volunteers are needed for a variety of roles including welcomers, technical, catering and photography teams. Volunteers are also needed for aspects such as creche, finance, as well as kids, youth and reception.
The volunteer application process has been set up by Keswick Computer Solutions (KCS), which has also given the Keswick Ministries website a complete design overhaul. This site was launched in time for this summer’s Convention.
David Sawday, Chief Operating Officer for Keswick Ministries, said: “We are grateful to KCS for designing a website, which is quite complex, to suit all of our needs. It’s also great that they have been able to launch our volunteer applications for 2020 so soon after this year’s event.
“Conventioners and volunteers have such a wonderful time in Keswick that they can’t wait to return the following year to help others and stay in such a beautiful place. We are so grateful for all those who give their time to serve at the Convention – and we’d love people to sign up to be part of the 2020 Convention.”
Each year hundreds of people from this country and further afield volunteer at the Convention.
Couple Inken and Steffen Gobert, of Leipzig in Germany, volunteered as stewards this year and would like to volunteer in the future.
Inken said: “Everyone is so friendly. They are like family. I like stewarding because it is fun and you can help put a smile on peoples’ faces when they are arriving.”
Plans are now being made for next year’s Convention, which will take place between 11-31 July 2020. It will be held at the former Pencil Factory site. More details will be announced in coming months.
