Pastoral Refreshment Conferences

6th February 2023 - 10th February 2023

In partnership with Living Leadership, these conferences are a place where church leaders and their spouses can come to receive from the Lord and be refreshed for their life in ministry. Set in the beautiful Lake District, there is a choice of two 3-day mini-breaks:

Monday 6th – Wednesday 8th February 2023
Wednesday 8th – Friday 10th February 2023

They are specially tailored to the needs of leaders, with refreshment and encouragement through Bible talks, seminars, prayer and space.

With it’s emphasis on experiencing God’s grace, the annual Pastoral Refreshment Conference is regularly described as an essential oasis where church leaders and their spouses can take a step back from daily ministry demands, share fellowship with other in similar contexts, be prayed for, and be refreshed for the seasons ahead.

The theme of 2023’s conference is Sorrowful yet Always Rejoicing.

“We appreciate the Bible teaching which is always fantastic but also the context around it of a place of grace and refreshment. There is an ethos of people being free to be themselves in the place they’re at to receive the teaching.

Anna Price

Discussion Group Topics

Guarding Against Joy Thieves

In Christian service, the evil one uses experiences and people, memories and attitudes like jealousy rob us of our joy in the Lord. This workshop will identify some common ‘joy thieves’ and explore practical strategies for guarding against them and maintaining our joy.

Ministry Marriages: Sharing Joy and pain

Ministers’ spouses often suffer vicariously when ministers are hurt. If not dealt with well, this can lead to bitterness and relational tensions in the church or conflict and distance in the marriage. This workshop will explore ideas for maintaining joy amidst pain in ministry marriages.

Sorrow, joy and power

Many leaders experience sorrow from the conduct of those who led us or people we lead; sometimes we experience sorrow from the fallout of how we have led badly. This workshop will reflect on power in ministry, its uses and abuses, and pathways to joy.

Persevering with joy

The perspective of sorrowful, yet always rejoicing might seem hard to sustain over a long period of ministry. This workshop will explore how we can retain feeling both sorrow and joy, during the long-haul of ministry, without either become dulled or hard-hearted, or swinging wildly from one to the other.

Who is it for?

For Christian leaders and their spouses in pastoral ministry and church leaders with significant responsibility.
