Dorothy Spurr

In 1997 I was living in London working for a Christian residential mother and baby home as a midwife. I was newly qualified and very young but had felt the Lord calling me there. I could not settle at the local Methodist Church and was advised by a very wise and experienced Methodist Minister to attend Muswell Hill Baptist Church. Whilst there I began to realise that I lacked real Bible based teaching from my circuitous journey of faith!

By the summer of that year totally out of my depth with my profession, and totally out of my depth with my faith I gave in my notice and trusted God to help me. In the summer a friend took me to the Keswick Convention where I heard Rev Alan Redpath preach so powerfully from the first letter of John. It challenged and reassured me in ways that I had never experienced before. Whilst at Keswick I kept seeing the Capernwray Hall Bible School stand, seeing people from Capernwray. Facing no steady income at the end of the summer as I was due to leave my job (hoping to get another one) I thought I would never be able to afford to take a year out. Well, it turned out my needs were supplied thanks to a cancelled holiday to Israel that I had saved for.

That year 1997 -1998 was such a vital part of my ongoing education in the Word of God both the written Word and the Living Word of daily living. Since then life has moved on. I was a Methodist Local preacher for 40 years and now I live in Scotland and attend a lovely Baptist Church fellowship. Thank you Keswick for pointing me in the direction the Lord was guiding me to.
