What other local initiatives are Keswick Ministries involved in?

  • Keswick Ministries owns the Rawnsley and Pencil Factory pay and display car parks, which are administered by Allerdale Borough Council. Free car parking has been available at the car park on occasion, such as Christmas events in Keswick, in line with other Allerdale-run car parks in the town.
  • Our premises are regularly let out to community groups including Keswick Archers and Theatre by the Lake.
  • A town liaison forum, launched by Keswick Ministries, is held every quarter. It was set up to encourage more two-way communication between The Convention and the town, and to engender a greater level of connection between the town and the Conventioners. This has been a great opportunity to engage with business people and councillors, strengthen relations with the town and get feedback about The Convention. Topics discussed at the meetings include the Convention programme, latest news from Keswick Ministries, parking, security and updates on the pencil factory.
  • Keswick Ministries is the landlord of the Derwent Pencil Museum– which is situated just a stone’s throw from the former pencil factory!
  • Each year, the Mayor of Keswick attends the launch of Keswick Convention. During the three weeks of the summer event, local dignitaries are invited to the Saturday meetings and we also hold a press breakfast in Week One of the Convention for press and council members.
  • During the Convention, Keswick Ministries provide speakers for many local churches.
  • The Friends of Keswick loyalty card scheme, which ran in 2018 and 2019, aimed to promote local businesses and the local economy. Founding members of the initiative are the Keswick Tourism Association (KTA), Keswick Ministries and Newlands Activity Centre.
  • Staff took part in a day of volunteering at Hope Park in Keswick in 2019.
