The Suite, Rawnsley Centre, Keswick CA12 5NP
2pm - Monday 22nd May 2017 - 13:30 Friday 26th May
Closing date is 21 February 2017
This Preaching Communications Workshop is the first of Keswick Ministries' new teaching and training events held as part of the Derwent Project. It is an intensive workshop in which those who attend receive in-depth personal training, from exegesis right through to a finished engaging sermon.
Each delegate should have prepared, in advance, a passage that they are intending to preach. At the end of the week, each participant will have preached that passage (with few notes) faithfully and in an engaging fashion to the other delegates on the workshop.
In the first 24 hours of the workshop, delegates will present the fruit of their work on the Bible passage. There will be detailed feedback and sharpening of exegesis from James Robson (Ministry Director of Keswick Ministries). James offers extensive experience over nearly 20 years, training preachers and leaders, as well as teaching students Old Testament and Hebrew at Oak Hill College and at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford.
From the Tuesday lunchtime to the Friday lunchtime, delegates will work closely with Richard Garnett and Neill Harvey-Smith on moving from accurate exegesis to an engaging sermon, delivered with few notes. The workshop format will be dynamic, interactive, and demanding. It brings out and develops each individual’s gifting, rather than giving a formulaic grid.
Richard has been running this workshop for nearly ten years at both Oak Hill College and at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Neill has also delivered these and similar workshops. They both bring expertise in communication and a passion for Biblical, engaging preaching. The feedback they have received has been consistently outstanding. Individuals attest that their preaching has been taken to a new level.
