Monday 22 to Friday 26 October
Culture Uncovered: Cultural Engagement for Kids & Youth Ministry is an intensive study course for those who are in full or part-time children’s and/or youth ministry.
The week will allow participants to delve deeply into the area of worldview and culture, consider how to engage with culture usefully for ministry amongst children and young people and also consider the role of the imagination in the spiritual formation of children.
Ted Turnau, guest speaker, is author of the book Popologetics: Popular Culture in Christian Perspective which looks at how Christians understand and respond to popular culture. He wrote the book following his experience of working as a youth pastor for six years.
“One of the best ways in engaging my kids in the questions that matter was getting into their worlds. Their worlds were heavily cultured, heavily contoured by popular culture. That’s what colours their world; that the lens through which they see.” - Ted Turnau
This five-day course is a great opportunity to meet with others for a time of worship and devotions and sessions each day. It is being run in partnership with Keswick Ministries and Growing Young Disciples.
Speaker: Ted Turnau
Ted Turnau is an American, who works in Prague teaching cultural studies and religion. Ted’s primary area of interest is issues of popular culture, imagination, and how they relate to the Christian faith.
