Boost in Keswick Ministries' Teaching and Training
11 June 2018
Keswick Ministries' recently launched Teaching and Training programme has seen enthusiastic uptake with close to 200 new attendees from around the UK, and as far afield as Majorca and Africa.
The programme, currently consisting of 12 different seminars, workshops and training courses, is designed to provide short bursts of intense training that will sharpen leadership and ministry skills as well as inform and deepen delegates' Christian understanding - while allowing time for reflection and relaxation in the beautiful setting of the Lake District.
The courses provide the model of activity that Keswick Ministries is introducing to bring visitors to Keswick all year round - and outside the main holiday periods. Once refurbished, the programme will be run from the old pencil factory site in Keswick.
"The feedback is fantastic and the current uptake indicates there is a strong demand from Conventioners and others to return to Keswick outside the summer holiday period.
“Our plans to see the derelict pencil factory site revived again and used to equip and refresh ministers and lay people to go out and serve some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK and abroad is turning into a reality.” said James Robson, Ministry Director.
Keswick Ministries' Teaching & Training courses cover a range of topics from the study of Hebrew, to youth leaders training as well as leadership training for ministers and other Christian leaders.
One example is the recent Influential Leadership Workshop. It gathered a senior group of church, business and mission agency leaders for an intense two-day workshop guided by a team of renowned Christian course facilitators.
“It was an opportunity to reflect, be challenged and encouraged, with time to put down specific pointers for future action and development. All of this in is a simply stunning location.”, Alan Tower, National Director, Friends International.
Robin Spittle one of the participants on the Preaching and Communications Workshop commented:“ Who would have thought that with over 30 years of preaching experience I could have learned so much in such a short period of time. I would heartily commend the course to all.”
“The courses have got off to a fantastic start,” adds James Robson,“ over the next two years we will be developing the programme to be one of the country’s significant programmes for Christian teaching and refreshment, ready for our move to the Pencil Factory.”
Keswick Ministries Teaching & Training courses were launched in 2017 and are taught by Keswick Ministries leaders and ministers as well as other well-known Christian teachers and trainers such as Garry Williams (John Owen Centre, London Seminary), Alanna Glover (EMU Music), Andrew Atherstone (Wycliffe Hall) and Johnny Juckes (Oackhill College).
New courses for next year include:
• ‘A day for disciple-makers’ with Johnny Juckes, Oakhill College
• ‘Culture uncovered: cultural engagement for kids and youth ministry’ a week for children’s and youth leaders' with author Ted Turnau
