Leading WELL

March 7 2024 - March 9 2024

A workshop for those who are Elders or Lay Leaders within their church.

Leading WELL (Workshop for Elders and Lay Leaders) is a course to equip, encourage and nourish elders and those in lay leadership in churches who want to grow and develop in their calling as leaders, shepherds and servants of the local church. This course runs over three years and can be joined at any stage.

This year’s Leading WELL will focus on the book of Ephesians, looking specifically at the Armour of God and how as leaders we can prepare for the spiritual battles we face, and how to help those we lead. The course will include a mixture of teaching, discussion groups and practical tools as well as fellowship with other elders and lay leaders across the country.

This is the third year in a three-part course. Delegates can join at any time and do not have to have completed previous Leading WELL courses

The Need

Shepherding the flock is vital for the health of the local church (Acts 20:17-38; 1 Peter 5:1-4). All churches depend on their elders or lay leaders. These are challenging days to lead. For different reasons, training in a local church context can be limited; there are real benefits in drawing on the experience of others outside that context.

“The course encouraged me greatly through bringing my attitudes and actions, as a church leader, to the beautiful bar of scripture.”

In all we’ve done, Joanne and I are convinced what people most need is to see the richness of the gospel on every page of God’s Word and to see Jesus more beautifully so that we want to walk with him more closely. And that’s why I love Keswick Ministries! Because our passion is to see people drawn closer to the same heart-melting Saviour.

The Ethos

This is a safe, affirming, fun, refreshing, time of learning, as together we do business with the Lord. The stunning Lake District location and the chance of fellowship, ‘all one in Christ Jesus’, with other serving in similar capacities from around the country reinforce this ethos.

What You'll Take Away

  • You’ll be able to understand and articulate what biblical leadership in the church context is.
  • You’ll be able to understand and read the context you find yourself in, and then apply the principles you’ve learned to this context and to others too.
  • You’ll develop knowledge and skills in particular areas relevant to where you serve:
    • Communication
    • Working in a team
  • You’ll express a greater sense of personal awareness, with a view to being able to serve and work with others and know what leadership skills to invest in.
  • You’ll gain confidence to take the next steps in personal development.
