For Inken and Steffen Gobert, of Leipzig in Germany, the 2019 Keswick Convention has been their third time volunteering as stewards. The couple became involved in the Convention through long-term volunteer, David Featonby, who met Inken at a teachers’ conference in Berlin in 2006.
Inken said: “Everyone is so friendly. They are like family. I like stewarding because it is fun and you can help put a smile on peoples’ faces when they are arriving.
“We enjoy the teaching, hearing about scriptures that are not usually talked about.’’
Inken, particularly enjoyed the KU events. She said: “I was moved to tears listening to the stories of (singer/songwriters) Steph Macleod and Eilidh Patterson.’’
They both hope to continuing volunteering in the future.
