Looking to the interests of others

The pinnacle of Paul’s argument [in Philippians 2] is displayed in verses 5-11 which, F B Meyer suggests, is a paragraph which stands in ‘almost unapproachable and unexampled majesty’ in the whole of the Bible. If humility and consideration of others is the character of Christian fellowship, then Christ Jesus exemplifies par excellence the disposition of ‘looking to the interests of others’. Look at the words of this worship song (Philippians 2:6-11) and consider the pastoral challenges it poses to any group of believers serious about the deepening of their fellowship.
